Russia,
the adventure of the homeowner
Russia is classified as the host. Group A, to which it
belongs, includes Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay. The opening match against
Saudi Arabia (June 14, 2018) is the expected event with which the World Cup
finals begins. The match will be at the Luzhnikí stadium, Moscow.
The first international match of the Soviet team was
in August 1923, when the Russian team defeated Sweden 2-1 in Stockholm. The
first formally recognized party of the Soviet Union took place a year later,
with a 3-0 victory over Turkey. The Soviet Union went to the 1958 World Cup for
the first time, after a qualifying game against Poland.
The leading player of the Russian team is not well
defined, there is no star to captain the other teammates; worse by the
trajectory and experience at the highest level, Igor Akinfeev could be the
closest to the reference figure or captain. The coach is coach Stanislav Cherchesov,
a coach who prefers players who participate in Russian football and who are not
#stars. "
The full team of the summoned is:
Goalkeepers or goalkeepers: Igor Akinfeev, Vladimir
Gabulov, Marinato Guilherme.
Defenses: Roman Shishkin, Viktor Vasin, Georgy
Dzhikia, Ilya Kutepov, Fedor Kudryashov, Ruslan Kambolov.
Midfielders: Igor Smolnikov, Yury Zhirkov, Yury
Gazinsky, Denis Glushakov, Alexander Samedov, Dmitry Kombarov, Alexander
Golovin, Alexei Miranchuk, Dmitry Tarasov, Alexander Yerokhin.
Forwards: Dmitry Poloz, Alexander Bukharov, Fedor
Smolov, Maxim Kanunnikov.
The historical figure
Lev Ivanovich Yashin (Moscow, October 22, 1929, March
20, 1990) was the Soviet footballer, considered the "best goalkeeper in
the history of football", he was popularly known as the Black Spider (Чёрный паук)
in reference to the dark colors of his clothes and to give the impression of
having eight arms to catch the ball. Yashin is the only goalkeeper who won the
Golden Ball (1963).
Yashin was a complete goalkeeper, of great stature,
very agile and safe under the goal. He won five Soviet First Division titles
and three Soviet Union Cups with Dinamo Moscow, the only club he played in,
from 1949 until his retirement.
With the Russian team he won the Olympic Games in
Melbourne in 1956 and the European Championship in 1960. He played four World
Cups: Sweden 1958 (quarterfinals), and was the most outstanding player of his
team, Chile 1962 (quarterfinals), England 1966 (semifinals) and Mexico 1970
(quarterfinals). He retired from football in 1971, aged 42. Yashin died in
1990, a victim of stomach cancer.
Yashin won many awards and recognitions: He was
awarded the Olympic Order by the IOC, elected the best goalkeeper of the XX
Century by the IFFHS, goalkeeper of the XX Century by FIFA, with the Order of
Merit of FIFA, was included in the Dream FIFA team (dream team) of the history
of the World Cups by FIFA, awarded the Order of Lenin and winner of the Golden
Ball by France Football (he was the only goalkeeper or goalkeeper to win it so
far). In times of Cold War, Yashin was the undisputed idol between sportsmen
and fans of the West, demonstrating the superiority of sport over politics to
unite people.
A great player, undisputed, and therefore, Yashin was
chosen for the poster of the World Cup. The poster shows Yashin with his usual
dark clothes, starting the flight to his left, tackling a giant ball that
simulates the planet. The iconography recalls the first posters of history,
such as that of Uruguay 1930. The colors are faint, the orange lines form the
angle of the arch and the archer is flying to catch the ball.
Therefore, it has sufficient merits to be the image of
the poster of the World Cup in Russia. I hope that the image and the example of
Yashin will serve Russia as a push to conquer the World Cup.
